Softing Prepares dataFEED OPC Suite Version 6.0 for the Requirements of the Cyber Resilience Act

Softing Industrial has released Version 6.0 of dataFEED OPC Suite Extended, establishing the technical foundation for the software’s further development with regard to the requirements of the EU Cyber Resilience Act (CRA). Version 6.0 does not yet meet the CRA requirements, but the necessary enhancements will be implemented step by step in subsequent Version 6 releases. Customers purchasing Version 6.0 will receive future 6.x versions with the corresponding CRA-related feature enhancements without having to purchase a new license.

Technical Foundation for Upcoming CRA-Related Enhancements

Version 6.0 is deliberately not a traditional feature release. The focus is on technical and security-related improvements as well as the long-term maintainability, security and reliability of the software. Version 6.0 therefore serves as the starting point for the further development of dataFEED OPC Suite Extended with regard to the requirements of the Cyber Resilience Act. The necessary CRA-related functions and adaptations will be implemented in subsequent Version 6 releases.

For customers, this approach primarily provides planning certainty: Those purchasing dataFEED OPC Suite Extended Version 6.0 are already investing in the product generation that Softing will continue to develop to meet CRA requirements. No new license will be required to move to the corresponding CRA-compliant Version 6.x release.

Proven Functionality for Industrial Data Integration

dataFEED OPC Suite Extended is a software solution for OPC UA and OPC Classic communication as well as for connecting industrial systems to IT and cloud applications. It enables the integration of controllers from leading manufacturers and connects existing automation infrastructures with OPC UA-, MQTT- and REST-based applications.

Its functionality includes OPC UA Server and Client, OPC Classic Server and Client, OPC UA Tunnel, MQTT Publisher/Subscriber, REST connectivity, data preprocessing, data logging and data exchange between different automation systems.

dataFEED OPC Suite Base to Be Discontinued

The dataFEED OPC Suite Base, offered alongside the Extended version, will be gradually phased out of the product portfolio. The Base license will remain available until October 1, 2027, in the current Version 5 and will not be further developed to address CRA requirements.

For new customers and users looking further to develop their installations with future CRA requirements in mind, dataFEED OPC Suite Extended Version 6 is available as the new product generation.
